5 steps to a mobility budget: Getting started with NAVIT is that easy

Want to offer your employees flexible mobility without having to deal with complicated administration or tax pitfalls? NAVIT makes this possible - digitally, intuitively, and in compliance with tax regulations. In this blog post, we'll show you step by step how your employees can use NAVIT: from their first login to using mobility offers and CO₂ compensation.

You'll not only get a clear overview of the process, but also practical tips on how to successfully introduce NAVIT in your company.

  • Step 1: Receive invitation & activate app
  • Step 2: Overview of mobility budget
  • Step 3: Selection of mobility products
  • Step 4: Activate Deutschlandticket & individual co-payment
  • Step 5: Pay with the NAVIT card & CO₂ tracking

Step 1: Receive invitation & activate app

Your employees will receive an invitation to NAVIT – either by email or directly via your internal HR system. They then download the NAVIT app from the App Store and activate their personal account. Simple, self-explanatory, and without any additional support required.

Step 2: Overview of the mobility budget

Immediately after logging in, users can see how much mobility budget they have available each month – for example, $30 per month, which they can even save up to a maximum credit of $150. This creates flexibility – for different mobility needs.

Step 3: Selection of mobility products

Now it's time to decide how to use the budget. The options are:

1. NAVIT mobility card (Visa) for:

  • Public transportation, long-distance trains, ride hailing
  • Shared mobility (scooters, bicycles, car sharing)
  • Refueling, charging, parking

2. Deutschlandticket – bookable directly in the app

In our example, the employee divides her budget as follows:

➡️ €15 for the mobility card

➡️ €15 for the Germany ticket

Step 4: Activate your Deutschlandticket & make a private additional payment

Booking your Deutschlandticket takes just a few clicks. If the monthly ticket price is higher than your employer's contribution, you can easily pay the remaining amount privately—e.g., by credit card or Apple Pay.

For you, this means:

✔️ No payroll accounting hassle

✔️ No refunds

✔️ No tax stress

The ticket is activated immediately and can be stored directly in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.

Step 5: Pay with the NAVIT card & CO₂ tracking

The NAVIT mobility card can be stored as a payment method in apps such as Uber or Free Now – or used directly via Apple Pay or Google Pay. Each trip is automatically deducted from the budget, and the current balance is visible in the app at any time.

An additional highlight:
NAVIT calculates the CO₂ emissions for each trip – individually for each employee and aggregated for your entire company. The emissions are automatically offset through certified climate projects – TÜV Nord tested and transparently documented.

Your company can even decide for itself which projects to invest in and receives regular official certificates.

How you benefit as an HR manager

  • Quick onboarding with no training required
  • Individual usage options for all types of mobility
  • Additional payments regulated without HR effort
  • Automatic CO₂ compensation – TÜV certified
  • Full transparency and reporting for you and your employees

Conclusion: Mobility that suits your company

NAVIT puts an end to paperwork, payroll chaos, and rigid mobility solutions. Instead, you get a digital, flexible, and sustainable tool that is actually used. And best of all, you're not just offering your employees a benefit – you're giving them real freedom of choice in their everyday lives.
