FINN Auto subscription: Overview of how it works, costs and alternatives

The car subscription is gaining ground as a flexible alternative to buying and leasing a car and is developing into a model of the future. Customers receive an all-inclusive subscription from car subscription providers that covers all costs except for charging or refuelling. One of the leading car subscription providers at the moment is FINN. We have taken a closer look at the FINN car subscription and explain how it works and what it offers. We show you how high the costs really are and whether the provider is worthwhile.

What is FINN Auto?

FINN is a provider of car subscriptions from Munich and was founded in 2019. Although the car trade is the largest retail market in the world, it only has a very small e-commerce share. With the rapid rise in popularity of online retail, FINN saw the potential for ordering a car to be as easy as buying a new pair of shoes online. Since 2019, the company has grown steadily. Although FINN is not a traditional car dealer, the start-up has quickly become one of the market leaders in the industry with its new car subscription service. In addition to FINN, this primarily includes Like2Drive from the Fleetpool Group.

How does a car subscription work?

Unlike traditional car purchases or leasing contracts, a car subscription allows flexible and carefree use of a vehicle. Car subscriptions work in the same way as other subscriptions, e.g. from streaming services. Subscribers pay a fixed monthly price, which varies depending on the vehicle model subscribed to. The monthly fee includes insurance, maintenance, taxes and wear and tear on the vehicle. Only the refuelling and electricity costs have to be covered by car subscription users themselves. This model offers companies and their employees the opportunity to concentrate on driving, while the car subscription provider takes care of the administrative aspects.

Costs

The cost of a car subscription varies depending on the model and equipment. However, the monthly fee usually includes all costs incurred, such as insurance, maintenance and taxes. This transparent cost structure makes car subscriptions an attractive option for companies that want to offer their employees a flexible alternative in their vehicle fleet without hidden fees.

Term

The term of a car subscription is also flexible. Subscriptions can be taken out for a term of as little as one month. In contrast to long-term leasing contracts, users can choose short or longer terms depending on their needs. This adaptability makes car subscriptions particularly attractive for companies that want to offer their employees a temporary mobility solution for their car.

Cancellation periods

The cancellation periods for car subscriptions are usually customer-friendly. Depending on the chosen term and model, subscribers can flexibly adjust or terminate their vehicle use. Cancellation periods are often possible from as little as one month. This allows a high degree of flexibility for companies and employees who need to adapt their mobility strategy to changing requirements.

Special features

One of the outstanding features of car subscriptions is their integration into a company's holistic mobility offering, e.g. integration into a mobility budget platform. This enables seamless management of mobility budgets, company bikes and Germany tickets alongside car subscriptions. This integrated approach offers companies the opportunity to manage their employees' mobility efficiently.

How does FINN work?

The FINN Auto process is simple and user-friendly. It takes around five to ten minutes to order a car via the FINN website. After selecting the desired vehicle and term, registration on the platform takes place. As soon as all the formalities have been completed, the vehicle is delivered as quickly as possible - to your doorstep if you wish.

FINN Auto is a brand-independent provider that offers a digital ordering process for 40 car models from 25 different brands, including Audi, BMW, Tesla, Volkswagen, Hyundai, Mazda and Opel.

What does a FINN Auto subscription cost?

The cost of a FINN Auto subscription varies depending on the model, equipment and term. However, the transparent price structure includes all relevant costs, which makes the total price comparable and predictable, unlike buying a car. This makes FINN Auto a clear and cost-effective option for companies as an alternative in their fleet.

The actual monthly price of the subscription is of course dependent on the model. The more expensive the new price of the model, the more expensive the car on subscription.

The cheapest and most popular models at FINN Auto include the Fiat 500e for 479 euros per month, the Opel Corsa Electric for 449 euros per month and the Mazda 6 estate for 559 euros per month. Premium models cost significantly more, such as the Audi RS e-Tron GT for €1,489 per month or the BMW X4 for €1,049 per month.

While some car subscription providers charge an initial fee to start the subscription, FINN does not. For some models, however, a deposit is required, but this amounts to a maximum of three months' hire of the car. FINN does not charge for delivery to the door at the start of the car subscription. However, if the subscription is cancelled and the subscriber wants the car to be collected again, a fee of 199 euros will be charged.

Are FINN cars new?

FINN Auto cars are generally new or very new used cars. This not only guarantees state-of-the-art technology and safety standards, but also ensures that the vehicles are highly reliable.

How are FINN cars delivered and how quickly?

FINN Auto attaches great importance to customer satisfaction, which is why the vehicles are delivered directly to the subscriber's desired location. The delivery time varies depending on the availability of the desired model and the customer's location, but is usually quick and uncomplicated.

What alternatives are there to FINN?

The market for car subscriptions is booming. In addition to FINN Auto, there are of course other providers of car subscriptions. Companies and employees should carefully consider the various options and choose the one that best suits their individual requirements. Car subscription alternatives include

  • Sixt+
  • Like2Drive
  • ViveLeCar
  • MyEuropcar
  • Stellantis car subscription
