A company's mobility strategy is only as strong as its implementation.
That’s something we tell clients early when advising on mobility benefits. Take the Deutschlandticket as a jobticket - if companies don’t roll it out properly, they miss out on a major opportunity from the start.
Without the right implementation, you won’t provide real value to your employees, you won’t see the increased efficiency in your benefits administration, and you won’t achieve your sustainability goals.
In the past, introducing the Jobticket efficiently was complicated, time-consuming, and nearly impossible. But times have changed. Central mobility platforms now make it possible to roll out the Deutschlandticket as a Jobticket while minimizing administrative workload.
This guide shows you three examples of how companies are doing it right - so you can see how simple and powerful proper implementation can be.
In the past, you had to juggle multiple systems and processes just to offer your employees a Jobticket - since May 2023, the Deutschlandticket.
Option A meant your HR team had to manage everything manually - from submitting paper applications for Jobtickets to the transport association, to processing payments, to handling changes such as employee exits. Processing applications took far too long, involved significant administrative effort, and brought along complex tax questions. On top of that, you had to deal with unhappy employees waiting for their ticket or reimbursement.
Option B is to use portals provided by transport associations or the Deutsche Bahn’s Jobticket portal. Better, but still not great.
These portals work well for basic ticket management, but because they are limited and inflexible, they don’t integrate with your systems. You probably have specific HR and payroll workflows that these basic systems simply don’t support. The standard implementation offered by transport providers may be far too rudimentary for your company’s needs.
As a result, getting the Jobticket rolled out correctly still often requires manual data entry or another human-dependent step. That costs valuable time and money.
This article introduces an "Option C": how a digital, automated mobility platform can turn the Deutschlandticket from just another employee benefit into an efficient core part of your overall mobility strategy.
Case 1: SNOCKS (Fashion Startup, Mannheim)
When the Deutschlandticket launched in May 2023, SNOCKS wanted to switch their jobticket provider—but processing through transport associations or Deutsche Bahn would’ve taken at least eight weeks.
Searching for alternatives in their community, they found NAVIT. NAVIT launched the Deutschlandticket for them within days, handling everything—from application to ticket delivery - completely digitally via the NAVIT app.
As of January 1, 2025, the Deutschlandticket now costs €58 - €9 more than its original price of €49. That price increase changed the game for many companies: previously, employers could fully subsidize the ticket tax-free via the €50 non-cash benefit. Now, that’s no longer entirely possible.

How much does the Jobticket cost?
€58/month, but drops to €55.10 if the employer subsidizes at least 25%.
How do employers provide it?
Either through a block contract, partially reimbursing self-purchased tickets via payroll, or via non-cash benefit - but only tax-free up to €50 (unless opt. § 3 No. 15 EStG or split-pay solution used).
Are there differences between “Deutschlandticket” and “Jobticket”?
Yes. The employer gets a 5 % discount when reimbursing at least 25% of the ticket cost, making it a Jobticket.
Who pays?
Employer purchases and transfers it to employees usually at a subsidized rate.
Does it affect payroll?
It depends. It can be structured so it doesn’t reduce salary (if ≤ €50 via non-cash benefit), or the remainder may be deducted from net or gross salary.
