Lassie gave every employee in Germany the same flat benefit budget. Uptake was low, and employees were not happy with what the budget covered.
Since December 2025, the Deutschlandticket has been part of that budget, ordered and managed through NAVIT. The number of active users has grown by 133% since launch, and admin takes around one hour a month.

The challenge: a benefit budget that did not fit
Before NAVIT, Lassie gave its employees in Germany a flat benefit budget per head. The amount was set. The problem was what employees could do with it. Uptake of the existing benefits was low, and the offer did not match what people actually needed.
Lassie wanted to fix that without raising the budget. The new benefit had to be inclusive and flexible enough to work for different employees. And for a team in Germany, the Deutschlandticket was the obvious place to start.
"We wanted a benefit that works for everyone in our German team, not just a few. The Deutschlandticket does that, because almost everyone commutes at some point."

The specific pain points that Taboola sought to resolve:
The solution: the Deutschlandticket managed through NAVIT
Since December 2025, Lassie's employees in Germany order and manage their Deutschlandticket in the NAVIT app. The ticket is digital and can be added to a phone wallet. The per-employee budget stayed the same. What changed is that employees can now put it toward the Deutschlandticket.
"Our budget was flat per employee, but people weren't happy with what it covered. With NAVIT, they have more choice for the same money, and the Deutschlandticket is now a benefit our team in Germany actually uses."

Lassie runs NAVIT on its own, without a connection to its HR or payroll system. There was no integration project and no field mapping needed. HR works in the NAVIT dashboard, where reporting and the CO₂ footprint of the benefit are visible.
"We didn't have to connect anything to get started. Everything runs through the NAVIT app and dashboard, so there was no project on our side, just a benefit that was ready to use."

Employers can contribute to the Deutschlandticket tax-free under §3 Nr. 15 EStG, provided the contribution is paid on top of regular salary. NAVIT reflects this treatment in its reporting, so the correct amounts reach payroll without manual calculation.
The results: users up 133%, one hour of admin a month
Ten months after launch, 49 employees at Lassie use the Deutschlandticket through NAVIT. That is 133% more active users than at the start. According to Lassie, around 70% of employees now use NAVIT.
Users more than doubled in ten months. The benefit kept growing after launch instead of levelling off.
"We started with a small group, and more colleagues have joined every few months since."

The growth is the part of the story that a single uptake figure would miss. The benefit did not peak at launch and level off. It kept gaining users month after month.
"The rollout was smooth, and running the benefit takes us about an hour a month. Reporting and CO₂ tracking give us a clear picture, and our employees are happy with it."
Varun SainiPeople and Talent Generalist at Lassie
For the People team, the benefit takes around one hour a month to run. There is no earlier comparison, because Lassie had not offered the Deutschlandticket this way before. Varun Saini names three things that made a tangible difference: the reporting, the CO₂ tracking and happy employees.
Same budget, more choice
Lassie did not raise the per-employee budget. It changed what the existing budget could be used for, and gave employees in Germany an option they actually take up. The Deutschlandticket now reaches 49 people, more than twice as many as at launch, and HR runs it in about an hour a month.
